About Manic

Founded in early 2021 by Toronto-based audio engineer and producer Matt Stevens, Manic Recording Studios is a creative space on Queen Street West in Toronto’s entertainment district.

We welcome artists, bands, producers, engineers and voice actors for recording, hybrid mixing and mastering, with room rentals also available.

Matt Stevens & his credits

Matt has worked with artists and clients across different studios over the years. The names on our Credits page reflect Matt’s career credits, including work at Manic Recording Studios and at other studios.

Hybrid mixing & mastering

Manic’s hybrid mixing and mastering setup combines digital editing and processing with analogue summing and outboard hardware. Universal Audio Apollo x8 and Apollo 16 interfaces sit alongside a Rupert Neve Designs 5057 Orbit summing mixer, Bettermaker EQ, SSL bus compression and Elysia Karacter saturation, with Audient NERO monitor control.

The studio

Acoustically designed and treated by Daniel Lacucci, founder of Sound Headquarters, the control room features custom bass traps, rockwool panels and cloud panels above the mix position. A WhisperRoom® MDL 4896 S provides a dedicated vocal booth.

Our microphones, outboard gear and monitors have been selected through years of hands-on use. Explore the gear.

Work your way

Room rentals let you bring your own devices and work through the studio’s Audient NERO monitor controller.

Request a session to discuss your project and availability.
